Brazelia Med Spa complete in depth testing 1-16=2015
Amount: $3,019.00
Posted by: Sagwa in BOCA RATON, FL.Posted: February 6th, 2015 01:02AM
Medical Center: Brazelia Med SpaType of Blood Test: lipids thyroid, vitamins, full panel gen
I went to Dr Brazelia for a free consultation for hormone and weight issues. Dr Brazelia was very holistic and knowledgeable in regards to correct nutrition and treating the whole person. She told me that my insurance would pay for the Blood Tests and I had a VERY thorough result packet with clear information, in fact each section had a green yellow or red level number indicating problem severity to normal with explanations. It included not only the numbers/levels but also genetic markers. My issue is my insurance DIDN'T Pay even though she told me it would. When she prescribed a 1 week cleanse based on the outcome of the tests and to start a diet program, which was way overpriced, I was told that my insurance didn't cover office visits and the diet things. I do not think its fair that she did the blood tests without approval from my insurance when she said it was covered. I need to work this one out with them somehow. I also agree with others here who think pricing should be up front

blood test
Amount: $1,350.00

Medical Center: FrontierType of Blood Test: "full panel"
When I had "a full panel" done a few years ago, all I had was a $25 copay. Now, my psychiatrist wanted to figure out if some of my symptoms were caused by something else. He gave me a note and told me to take it "anywhere that does blood tests." I went to a local urgent care clinic, and after about an hour of stalling, they said they would do it, but they couldn't guarantee how it would come out on billing because none of THEIR doctors had ordered it. By then I just wanted it to be over, so I let them take my blood. A couple months later, I find out that before insurance it was $3300, so $1300 (after insurance) is such a steal, right? We're already on a fixed income. Is there actually a way to argue this down?

On my first appointment with the OBGYN for my pregnancy, they told me to do a blood test on location. I went the lady said the amount due was $60 with my insurance. Then two weeks later I receive a statement asking me to pay $447.17, and it bill does not even explain in detail why it is so high. I am a college student how do they think I am gonna get all that. In my country I would only pay $100 max for that same test. I am pissed off!!

Do you believe it $2700…. clearly when medical facilities have exorbitant pricing - prices should be posted. When I go to Walmart - I see what things cost, also at Belks. Medical consumers should have the right to see pricing as well. We must give our life to register - license, medical card, list any and all people we have ever known. But we get little to NO info. So we can say no thanks - going down the road! Im new to the region and feel totally taken. BTW - I have insurance and my portion was over $800

my wife is Italian and my daughter has a few aliments and we decided to order a test for thalassemia A&B (not very complicated) and the bill was for $1,400 and insurance paid $799. We should have inquired more of our doctor and found a cheaper test. Buyer beware is an old slogan but it really applies.

When the tech was ready to draw the blood he hands me a Medicare form to sign indicating they would probably not pay for some of the tests. The total I would be responsible for was 488.00 and that was for 2 tests. If I didn't do the lab work
my doctor wouldn't know what to do next or what medications to continue to give me, if needed. What a dilemma and what a scam......

Blood Tests

Medical Center: Ob/gyn of IthacaType of Blood Test: fertility
I went to my ob/gyn, where they have an income-based sliding scale fee, because my husband and I have been trying to have a child for seven months (we are both 36 years old) My doctor said she'd like to run some routine tests and do an internal exam. This was two weeks ago. I just received my second of three bills for the blood work and so far it's $1,900 (not including her office) only for the tests. Which came back all normal levels. I am in shock. Why are we not advised of cost beforehand?

You should add this place to your list of 'places to go'. I posted as CBC test for your price comparison paragraph. They are online and national I believe. My own experience is they use quality (LabCorp is one) labs in the Detroit Metro area. No paperwork (prescriptions) needed. I routinely get my thyroid and other wellness tests done here. The only close to affordable place I've found. If they had a place like this for prescription medicine, I wouldn't need doctors at all!

Overcharged on tests
Amount: $974.00
Posted by: B. Johnson in Tampa, FL.Posted: September 9th, 2013 05:09PM
Medical Center: Quest LabsType of Blood Test: Hepatitis, ANA, others
Cost for hepatitis test alone was $463. I told dr I did not need that test, but she insisted. I was right. I sure don't need that bill. Other tests ranged from $40 for hemogram to $60 for metabolic panel and $80-$$132 each for various ANA and IF tests. Aetna would not pay (or apparently negotiate price with lab), so we carry it all. Might be worth it to try self pay.

blood test

Posted by: Jen C in Plainfield, IL.Posted: July 28th, 2013 06:07PM
Medical Center: Edward Health Center ILType of Blood Test:
I had different symptoms and my doctor suggested blood tests checking for thyroid problems. Well, the tests they did seem comprehensive, and it turned out I have hypothyroidism, anemia, and Sjogren's disease. I asked at the time how much a blood work up would cost since I have not had an employer that offers insurance in many years and I was told that they would send a bill. Boy did they send a bill, $2589.00 and it is due in 2 weeks? Seriously? Best health care in the world, huh? I cannot wait for changes to come to this ridiculous system! I don't need free health care, I just need reasonable prices, and the ability to shop around, or at least to know what I am going to be charged ahead of time so I can decide if I can afford it. I absolutely hate this. I don't want to hear from anyone about buying insurance on my own, because in my state insurance for my family would be over $2000.00/month, would only cover 80% in-network and would not cover lab tests anyway.

It's outrageuos. I called billing to complain over 24 hours ago but have had no call back as of yet. I'm going to at least share my opinion with a supervisor.

This year I am working in Greenfield, just east of Indianapolis and went to Hancock Regional on some bad advice from a coworker. It was $737 before the insurance discount. Same test. Every year.

Then WHAM! $1489 bill came. Cystic fibrosis test was $995 alone. What a crock! Not paying it. Others have been charged as little as $100 for that test.
