Root Canal and Crown
Amount: $1,076.00
Posted by: kmanderson in Nashville, TN.Posted: January 27th, 2015 10:01AM
Which Tooth: #4Type of Crown: All Porcelain
In the whole scheme of things the root canal and build up for the crown are not that expensive ($84 and $142 respectively). It's the darn porcelain crown that costs - $1400. That's just ridiculous! I do have insurance and my part of the crown is still $850. Really people? I believe dentists are making a killing on these crowns.

Beware of bargains in hand grenades, parachutes and dental work. I am happy with my new crown and the doctor did a good job. His office is like running an ER in a hospital. Staff, utilities, rent and expensive equipment. And, 8 years of college. I am satisfied.

Lava Crowns
Amount: $990.00
Posted by: Digger in santa ana, CO.Posted: October 7th, 2014 04:10PM
Which Tooth: upper right molarType of Crown: Lava
I went to dentist to get tooth fixed ended up having one root canal redone and two new ones done. Insurance covered all but 325.00. I went back for the crown prep and was advise by dentist that a Lava crown would be required on both the doctor quoted $375.00 after I approved I was shocked to get a statement for 1471.00 $425.00 for each crown $195.00 for a post 200.00 for medication 855.00 for root canal redo. What's bad is I had one done in the from a year ago the total cost was $325.00 My brother in law is a dental lab tech and told me the lava crown normally cost the dentist around 195.00 to 200.00 and cost him only about 96.00 in materials and time to make. What a racket $1676.00 for 2 hours labor. I thought Morticians were rip offs but dentists are right up there on the list. I will probably switch dentists when my open enrollment comes around.

Which Tooth: molarType of Crown: porcelain and metal
I just paid $3319 for a bridge. My neighbor just paid $2200 for the same. I got a discount of $600, he paid full price. Total rip off in my opinion. The cost of dental work is out of control, and it's why people don't do it when they should. These dentists see dollar signs walking in the door.

Which Tooth: 2 FrontType of Crown: full porcelin
I paid out of pocket to replace my porcelin veneers that I got when I was 15 (result of a childhood injury). These 2 veneers lasted 16 years for me. However one was cracked and the other was turning black at the gumline. They were also too big and crooked. With my replacement I had the following services that totaled upwards of $3000: Dental exam and ex-ray. 2 fillings. Professional home bleaching treatments and of course the two front crowns. My teeth now look awesome. I financed these treatments with CareCredit

Crowns
Amount: $1,000.00
Posted by: TNTOWN in Nashville, SD.Posted: February 10th, 2014 09:02PM
Which Tooth: Both frontType of Crown: Procelin on metal
After thousands of dollars, my two front crowns are now showing black at the top and one is cracked.
I remember when I got these they said they would last forever, that is until you get in your 60's. All my teeth hurt, it would $4000. Plus to just have my teeth pulled and $1800. For lower and $2400. For upper dentures.
The dentist says no keep your teeth, it's better, but they don't live with the hurt and not to mention very embarrassed dis colored and rotting teeth. There is no help here in the USA, not even with the dental schools. Their prices are close to the same as real dentists in the area around the school. I would almost pay someone $500 the knock the crap out of my mouth. Dental in America it's useless and Dental insurance is worse. They only pay 50% of a crown and max out at $1000.
