Canal was around 1000, add in the crown and stump and we are up to 2800!

The state of dentistry is unsustainable. They must all be rich but none appear to be happy. Highest suicide rate due to GUILT and knowledge of causing PAIN and SUFFERING.

I am a real chicken when it comes to dental pain so I chose sedation dentistry. I am being charged
$3,554.00 for both root canal and crown.
I live in the Chicago, IL suburbs. Still seems tremendously high priced. Am I wrong to think this is too much money to pay?

Went in for a routine filling, then they hit the nerve and told me I needed a root canal. Total cost of root canal, post, and crown is 3200. Oh yeah, it was more $$ more for the painful temporary filling they put over my exposed nerve after. No wonder people hate going to the dentist. Woke up this morning feeling fine, now my tooth is killing me, and so is my colon from bending over to pay. Ripoff.

I asked for price up front. Paid cash. Most of the work was done by assistant. Dentist finished the job. The anesthesia is very painful. I needed 3 shots. I had lots of pain after the procedure. BTW, price does not include the crown, I will get that at the School of Dentistry. Don't know how much it cost. Be careful with students. I usually go to the School of Dentistry cos it's cheaper but sometimes the students don't have a clue about what to be done.

The cost was a shock since I may need to have the crown replaced for another $1000. However, I was very pleased with the treatment which included antibiotics for the abscess. I feel I did the right thing to take care of this before it got worse (also absolutely pain free procedure).

I was telling my friend about this very bad pain in my tooth, and then he told me about this local endodontist who he was related to. Anyway, I went and the final price was like $1400 crown and the actual surgery. I also told him about his relative and then he lowered the price to $1300. Eventually my insurance paid $1000 and the rest was from my pocket. Excellent service, price, and marvelous work on the crown.

A kids root canal was a small cavity but because state insurance wouldn't give us an appointment it got worse. This country is messed up and it seems like now you have to be wealthy to have teeth too!We have no dental insurance and it doesn't really pay to have it anyway.I'll be paying for this for three years!

The root canal was done by their Endodontist; Dr. Shore, who was excellent: cost $592 w/EDP discount.
Post and crown done by dentist: $800 w/EDP discount.
Total for one tooth: $1,392!
I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield BASIC and it covered nothing. What is going on with dental insurance??? I had a crown done 20 years ago, basic health insurance and it was all covered; a $25 copayment by a NYC Park Avenue dentist no less. I now understand why people avoid the dentist like the plague; they can't afford it!!

I needed a root canal on the #2 (second to last upper right) molar, as it was cracked and needed to be treated before getting a crown. I was a bit anxious as this was my first root canal ever. Overall it was painless, except having to pay the bill, as I don't have insurance, and used CareCredit. Lesson learned: if you can get good dental insurance, get it, and never let go!

He also told me that the Root Canal was the only alternative I got...Very weird don't you think?

Aspen Dental gives first time patients a free exam and free x-rays, but for them to repair anything it is insanely expensive. Two of my front teeth need root canals and the other front tooth needs a small cavity filled. They wanted $4,200 to do this. With a bridge for my bottom teeth and all my teeth cleaned included( you better sit down) they want a total of $8,715. I have no insurance, do I have to sell a kidney to get dental care? I am trying a different dentist tomorrow, hopefully, he will understand how much money a working man makes and give me a reasonable deal.

Mine cost around $1,000.00 before the cap. I included the antibiotics, painkillers, x-rays, etc. in the cost. This was all without insurance. The root canal itself wasn't that expensive, only around $600.00, but everything else really adds up. Luckily I was able to get a normal filling in, which should hold for a few years before I get it capped. The procedure wasn't too bad, also. It was long, but not painful. Just remember to get your teeth checked so you don't have to go through all this in the first place!

Endodondist is spelled R.A.P.E. Wow. $ 2000 for 20 minutes work. Nice. I hope Obama notices. My endodontist does 10 procedures a day. She makes $ 20000 a day. Wow. Wow. Wow. If you don't think doctors need to be hosed up the side of a ship and controlled and socialized, go ahead and keep on paying $ 3000 per tooth.

My cavity was clear down to the nerve, I had an emergency pulpotomy to relieve the pain the cavity was so large the dentist needed very little drilling to perform the pulpotomy which was $225 then I had to go to another dentist to see about the root canal to finish the job and I was quoted $760 dollars! I would have thought the pulpotomy was a good chunk of the root canal procudure, the tooth is already drilled out and cleaned and the pulp above the roots has been removed I was thinking it'd be closer to $500 to finish the job.

I have had a root canals in June, July, August and now in October. My insurance was like a dental coupon, so I have had to pay for this with a credit card. Prices seem in line with comments posted here. Very expensive procedures and I get my teeth cleaned and check 3 times a year. What could cause such a run of tooth problems? I feel some other teeth starting to hurt too.
