I have sticker shock the original bill was 14156.27 doctor 6217.50 laboratory 4386.00 drugs714.77 after insurance payout I still owe1570.08. The good out of the bad the procedure went well I have a valuable lesson to learn do your homework and research well before you chose a hospital or clinic.p.s aurora Burlington hospital

63 years old, First clonoscopy, No polups, BC/BS told Hospital that I was covered but when I came back with no problems they denied coverage. Said that "cancer screening" wasnt a benefit. Bill is $10,800. Can anyone direct me to help??

Like most people, I asked Anthem and the Endosc Ctr several times if this was 100% covered. "Yes, if this is your first time over 50+ years old." Doctor found 1 rectal polyp.
SF Endoscopy Center $2,530 covered.
Anesthesia $1,040 covered.
Colon Biopsy by Dr. $950 not covered.
Now I am stuck with the $950 bill. I will call to see if there is anything I can do to reduce the bill. What a shock!

My entire cost was US $150.00, paid up front, all cash, no insurance. The US medical system is a rip-off. US hospitals should be forced to post all charges online and in the hospital BEFORE any procedure is performed.

My insurance covers the doctors cost, but not the hospital , and for the insurance to cover the doctors fees it has to be performed at a hospital. The hospital fees are over 4000.00, not including lab, and no one can quote me an anesthesiologists fees. I am self employed, and was forced to get the insurance with Obamacare or else be fined. It doesn't cover much, and they can circumvent everything, no deductible, no co payments, yet no coverage. If they find anything than it is not considered a wellness screening and they don't pay for the colonoscopy. I was told by the Coliseum hospital I will be billed first with insurance fees, so I don't know if I will be responsible for the 4000, or the 78% discount if I didn't have insurance, because I do have insurance. Think I may have it done overseas.Thank you Obamacare, you've made it worse for most Americans!! I eat a high fiber, low fat diet, do not have high BP, nor diabetes, have the ideal bodyfat percentage for my age, gender and wt/ht.

I just had to pay for the specialist copay. I was covered for the procedure 100% because of Wellness Benefits.

Each snip of the polyp's was $1,382.75 times 4. You are already under whether it is one snipe on more.
My insurance company and hospital yet to call and try to make heads or tails out of reading all these explanations and codes for them. I will keep them on the phone for each one. They no doubt will be glad to hung up.
My was done in late 2013 costs.
Really sad you have to study the long sheet of costs for over two days.

I have regular Medicare, no supplement, I had a little less than $400 in four separate bills. I had a colonoscopy and complete blood work.
It was not free as advertised but better than the results posted here.

One small polyp was found. The entire procedure was covered by my insurance. I only paid my deductible, which is $20.00.

Hello I am being billed for $2600.00 for almost a year now, fighting it has been challenging since no one in customer service has been able to explain to me the reason/rationale behind it. Only on the internet have I been able to get the gist of what is likely going on in my case since they did remove one benign polyp. I do not have that $ and even if I did, I feel like I am being out right swindled and am not ready to call it a day yet. My handbook says nothing about any type of minor finding (polyp) rendering the preventive nature of the claim null and void. Additionally, the doctor who ordered the test said these preventive procedures are covered 100%, which I checked my handbook for, and the office never warned me of this possibility, though after the fact, a woman in billing said they had been seeing this kind of thing happening. What?! And you never felt the consumer ought to know?! Violation of consumer rights going on, no question.

Had first at age 62 in 1992, another around 204, then starting in 2908 and then every year until 2011. After last one I was told I had pre-cancerous conditions and my next one would be in 5 years? I take aspirin, plus other meds for high blood pressure. Have not been contacted since last visit. Have appointment in few days with new specialist for consultation. Last Dr. said I should stop aspirin because of internal small bleed. About 4 years ago DR. started to sedate me, before I had no problems and found watching procedure on monitor fascinating. Have been told by my heart DR. its now standard in "this area". I don't like it and it effects the cost.

We are still waiting for final outcome on hospital bill; this site is very helpful. Our diagnostic colonoscopies were 5 years ago when I was working and covered by insurance through my workplace; little to no cost at that time. Mine was fine, so no need for another for 10 years and will be on Medicare by then. My husband had 5 polyps removed and had to go back this year (5 years later) for follow up. We are now under private insurance that can only be described as catastrophic coverage--$10,000 deductible--and insurance says colonoscopy for him is pre-existing condition. We knew they wouldn't cover follow-up but not doing follow up is a risk we weren't prepared to take. First hospital bill was just over $4,300 which reflected a $2,300 "discount" because it is a self-pay. They encouraged us to file for charitable assistance, so we are waiting to see how much more they knock off. We have already paid the physician and anesthesiologist for a total of just over $900 out of pocket.

My Wife had a routine Colonscopy, in and out in an hour. Total cost was $7281.52. We paid the $5000 deductable on our policy and Blue Cross paid the rest. The cost blew me away. How can they justify these costs?

Billed $36,000 dollars for a colonoscopy and endoscopy. Yep those numbers are correct. Appealing everything, fighting the entire bill. I recommend never going either the facility or doctor. My lawyer suspects the doctor has a share in the company. Unbelievable unethical.
