Provider: Orthopedic Surgeon | Site of Injection: Ankle Joint |
Condition Treated: Post-Traumatic Arthritis |
Car injury 35 yrs ago crushed the ankle joint & destroyed all the cartilage. Years of oral NSAIDs took a toll on my stomach & I didn't want to take pain pills every 4 hrs. The procedure was performed while I layed on an x-ray table so that he could guide the needle. The injections (local anesthetic & cortisone) hurt like hell. But I felt great for 14 wks. Medicare covered it, so Medigap picked up the balance. I don't remember what the reimbursement rates were from M/C were - but MUCH less than the $1800. It's a shame that people w/o insurance have to pay more than the insurance company reimbursement rates. |

Provider: Care Source | Site of Injection: |
I refuse to go to a specialist for my trigger thumb UNTIL either the specialist's office or Care Source inform me as to what my cost will be for an injection. No one seems to know so I will suffer with the condition until I get more detailed information! |

Provider: Aetna | Site of Injection: Hip |
Condition Treated: Bursitis |
Had this shot again recently after a failed attempt in 2006 back then I think I paid about $45.00 for it, now after my co-pay they billed my insurance another $550.00 for this 5 minute visit! My insurance has only agreed to pay $310.00 leaving me with the rest, which I will be disputing also. My advice....Shop around! |

Provider: cigna | Site of Injection: hip |
Condition Treated: hip pain/labrum tear |
this is the disputed amount, I am fighting to lower it. I have insurance but have to pay 100% since I have high deductible, so in essence I am a cash customer. The whole thing angers me, this is the reduced Cigna price, The office attempted to bill $900 for this 5 min shot/procedure (with ultrasound guidance. At least the shot worked. |
