My school gave away a coupon for a free office visit with a set of X-rays. My girlfriend had a terribly infected tooth, so she went in to get it checked out. She doesn't have insurance. The dentist was very nice and understanding and gave us a hefty discount. 153$ for an exam, set of X-rays, pain meds and extraction. Totally reasonable. Communicate your financial situation with your dentist, and good ones will be willing to work with you. Especially if it's an emergency! :) |

Which Tooth: All teeth |
My moms teeth are in such bad shape, the dentist suggested having them pulled & going with upper & lower dentures.
Upper Dentures $3,000
Lower Dentures $3,000
The oral surgeon confirmed what the general dentist had said about pulling all of the teeth. But of course he would. He only makes money if he removes the teeth and the more he can remove from each patient, the more he makes. So really we were there for a quote.
$1,259 - Intravenous Sedation - 2 hours
$306/per tooth - Surgical Removal of Erupted Tooth #2-#28 (skipping a hand full of teeth that are already gone)
$313 - Removal of Residual Root of Tooth #31
$375 - Alveoloplasty w/extractions LR
$375 - Alveoloplasty w/extractions UL
$375 - Alveoloplasty w/extractions UR
Alveoloplasty is smoothing the dental bones out after removing the teeth so a denture can be set on a smooth bone surface.
_______
$8,511 - Oral Surgeon
$3,000 - Upper Denture
$3,000 - Lower Denture
_______
$14,511 Grand Total |

Root canal tooth fractured. Went to gental care dentistry as a university student without dental insurance. $95 out of pocket total with some shots to numb me. Took about 15-20min to extract and barely any bleeding after. Highly recommend. An implant in 6mo will cost about $2000-2500 if I get one |

Because of the orthodontic treatment needs,I did 4 premolar extraction in Beijing,China.rnIt costs &50 for each; The panaramic X ray costs $30rn The payment of Joinway Dental Clinic is reasonable because they can provide English service. If you go to government hospital, the price is half; But if you go to SOS,the price is 3 times. |

Which Tooth: 4 Wisdom teeth |
I haven't gotten mine done yet. They have been hurting for about 3 years. I don't have good credit so I can't get any financing on the extraction. I can't afford insurance or to pay out of pocket. There are no dentists in my area that will do a payment plan, and no dentistry schools either. I don't know what to do and sometimes it's hard to concentrate because of the pain. Maybe I will just pull out 2 easier teeth to make room. |

Which Tooth: second top molar |
Without insurance it costed $190.00 to remove my second top molar on the left. Xray, Novocaine, and the procedure was included. Took 3 hours the dentist did not want to break the tooth. However this lead to virtually no pain the next day. Not bad of a price in this area extractions are usually $300.00 or more. |

Which Tooth: lower left side |
$1000 of the above amount was covered by insurance and I was made libel for $235. I really did not expect to go over the $1000 limit covered by insurance (Liberty Dental) but X-rays and extraction came to $400 . the remainder was for the partial. Unfortunatly, the partial does not fit. I have gone in for one refit ($90) and expect to be charged for the same amount for any further attempts at a refit. I believe I have made a mistake in going to this place, as I made it clear that I did not want to go over my $1000 limit and did not come away with a partial I can use. |

Which Tooth: 31 |
Had a root canal when I was 11, which got infected. Had to drill through the crown twice before things got better. Eventually, the filling in the crown fell out and I was estimated $2,000 to fix the crown. Being in college I ignored the tooth. Two years later the crown finally fell off. Got the, of course compacted, tooth removed a few days ago costing $537.00 out of pocket. Insurance would only cover $20.00. |

Which Tooth: 1 wisdom 2 back tooth. |
Seriously, dentist seem to make much more money then physicians! With dental plan, went in to remove 2 teeth originally, one was a wisdom teeth sideways and it was causing pain. The place recommended to remove a third because it was being held up between 2 teeth. Used the gas to reduce pain. I was told it would cost $310.50 for 3 tooth with the gas. Pretty expensive, almost $100 per tooth for just pulling tooth. With previous experience before, we thought well the gas is the most expensive so went along with it. Once the tooths was pulled we get a SECOND bill 2 months down the road that said you OWE us an additional $349.60. You should have seen my face, $660 bucks for 3 tooth extractions?! thats $220 per tooth for a 20 min job! Keep in mind this IS WITH DENTAL INSURANCE!Apparently, they did not get the maximum amount they wanted from the dental insurance company and now we are getting billed the difference. The statement we got from Delta Dental was they were billed for $1028.56 + 310.50(out of pocket payment) = $1,339.06! The insurance covered a good portion since we were in network and they give discount to providers to be in there network. Then the next month after we got our statement, we get a second dentist bill wanting an additional $349.60?!!!! NEXT TIME NO GAS FOR ME! Just going to pop some extra aspirin and suck it up before a extraction. *Note I did not get charged for pain killer (pills). After the procedure Thank you Blue Cross for the coverage at the pharmacy! that out of pocket expense was only $5.00 |

Which Tooth: all 4 |
$ out of pocket after "best dental insurance" California sucks cause those of us who work and support ourselves are burdened to pay extra for those slackers who live off the govt aka the working community. $ included all 4 teeth, antibiotics and vicoden which they scringed on and gave me 15 pills. Wtf? They're supposed to be taken every 6 hours but by the end of 2 hours the pain begins to return. |

My 80 yr old mom just had two teeth extracted under local anesthesia with a panoramic xray done prior...took about 20 min..and the oral surgeon gave us a 20% discount because mom is a senior citizen...this is awful..will not ever reccommend him or use him again. By the way mom has no insurance and is on a fixed income of course.....really awful!!!!!! |

The orginal price I was going to pay for 2 teeth extractions with nitrious was going to be 389.79. I went online shopping for dental plans not insurance. I found humanaonedental.com. I enrolled in it and the price for extractions were 65.00 each but the nitrious wasn't covered but that is fine since I saved over 200.00. Before you enroll in the humana dental plan just make sure there is a dentist in your area. |

SHOP AROUND IF YOU CAN....I DIDN'T HAVE THAT OPTION.. MY EXTRACTION WHICH THE TOOTH BROKE, COMING OUT IN 4 PIECES, RELATIVELY SIMPLE, NO EXTRA LOCAL....VERY PAINFUL WHEN LOCAL ANESTHETIC WORE OFF....BROUGHT MY OWN X-RAY AND ANTIBIOTICS...I THINK THIS IS HIGHLY OVERPRICED-NOT INCLUDING THE REAL HIGH COST OF REPLACING WITH AN IMPLANT. |

Which Tooth: #30 |
Tooth #30 was cracked in half vertically past the gum line, due to untreated cavity and extensive decay. Dentist gave me 2 shots in the mouth just to make sure I was numb. Took around 15 mins to pull, it was so badly decayed that it came out in pieces. He got it all though and I didn't feel a thing. The actual cost was 119.00, $5 office visit fee, and $65 for antibiotic sack placed in the socket after extraction. Insurance of pays 50% for the extraction. So I ended up paying around $141 all together. |

Which Tooth: Bottom Back Right molar |
I was quoted a price of 210-220 For a simple extraction. It included the x-ray, extraction and office visit. The dentist was kind enough to wave the office visit fee of $87. The whole thing went very smoothly, and he used laughing gas, which is very, very relaxing, there was no pain involved, and I am only slightly sore today with no pain meds and only slight swelling on my cheek. I do not have health insurance, so this was all out of pocket, but well worth it considering the pain I was in. |
