The cost of hair extensions varies based on: the quality, type and length of hair extension chosen, the method of application and the length and density of the natural hair.
Typical costs:
A partial head of hair extensions typically costs between $150 and $300, plus the cost of the hair. Total cost ranges from $400 to $800.
A full head of hair extensions (for fullness only) typically costs between $300 and $600, plus the cost of the hair. Total cost ranges from $1,300 to $1,600.
A full head of hair extensions for fullness and added length typically costs $600 to $1500 and up, plus the cost of the hair. Total cost ranges from $1,600 to $4,000.
High-quality human hair that is cut -- not brushed -- off usually costs from $250 to $500 for a partial head and $1,000 to $2,500 for a full head, depending on length and origin. Synthetic hair and low-quality human hair, which are not recommended, cost much less.
What should be included:
The stylist will schedule an initial consultation to assess your hair and discuss to desired results and cost.
Bonding methods include braiding, weaving, sewing and fusion, in which the hair comes coated at the tips with a substance that, when heated, bonds with your own hair.
If necessary, the hair extensions will be color matched to your own hair.
At the appointment, the stylist will trim your hair and then use the chosen method to attach the hair extensions. Depending on the method and how many extensions are being applied, this can take anywhere from two to six hours. After application, the stylist will trim the hair for a blended look.
Additional costs:
Some bonding techniques require regular application of a product to keep the bond in good shape, for about $20 per month.
As hair grows, extensions need to be trimmed. This costs about the same as a traditional haircut.
Color touch-ups are sometimes necessary on extensions; this can cost $50 or more
As hair grows, hair extensions will need to be taken out and reapplied; hair extensions usually last an average of four to six months. This re-application will cost as much as the first for labor, but high-quality human hair usually can be reused.
Removal, which can take an hour or two, usually costs the stylist's hourly rate, unless new extensions are being applied.
Discounts:
Some salons will charge an hourly rate to apply extensions you buy yourself; however, it usually is a better idea to purchase hair through a licensed hairdresser.
Using a "weft" -- a grouping of hairs that have been sewn together in a seam -- is generally quite a bit cheaper than strand-by-strand hair extensions, but tends not to look as natural or allow as much versatility.
Clip-in hair extensions can be used for an inexpensive, temporary style; a stylist can show you how to put them in and take them out.
Some salons offer discounts for senior citizens or cancer survivors.
Shopping for hair extensions:
Tip: First, make sure you are a good candidate for hair extensions. People who are losing a lot of hair, who have allergies to certain chemicals or who are not willing to make regular trips to the salon are not. Rolfs-Salon.com provides a self-quiz on hair extension suitability.
Find a salon by asking for a list of certified stylists from a reputable company that supplies quality human hair extensions. Popular companies include Hairlocs, Great Lengths and Hairdreams.
Tip: After you have found a salon, schedule a consultation to get an accurate price estimate. Ask to see before-and-after photographs of previous hair extension clients; a reputable stylist should always have a portfolio and also should be certified by the company that provides the hair extension system they use.
Before getting hair extensions done, it is important to ask for a written price quote and guarantee. This is standard practice at reputable salons.

I am so happy with my extensions! Because of my fine hair I have never been able to grow it much past my shoulders. With the extensions in it is now to my waist. One of the things I like the most about the extensions is I can take them off and re-use the hair later so it makes my style a lot more versitile. My stylist used the bonding method and I highly recommend it. You can't see the bonds at all and nobody would ever know it wasn't actually my hair. Make sure you have seen their work before you have it done, as it takes skill and experience to make it perfect.
My hair was always very thick so i decided I had to have thick hair extensions or else I would look horrible. My exstensions are said to last six and a half months and i should come in monthly to get a trim which usually only cost around 45 dollars. My stylist works in Cincinatti and is about 3/4 an hour away from my home in Kentucky. Her name is Rachel and she works at Idenity. She is amazing and does great work. I absolutley LOVE my new extensions
I am stationed in Japan and my hair extensions are amazing. I can't even tell where my real hair ends and extensions begin. They use natural hair from China. If you are going to pay $1500 for extensions you're better off buying a plane ticket and traveling to Japan.
I am a hair stylist in gulfport ms. Just your style 2288323088. Or just your style/ Debbie .com. My name is Rhonda and I got on here to see what people are charging for extensions. my styles is great i bought my own human hair extensions and she applied them with glue. i love them you cant tell the difference in them and my real hair. kayla only charged me 80.00 to put them in. said to come in at 6 weeks and have them trimed.
I found someone to do it and the price includes the hair and her services and the cut and the accessories that I would need to keep it up. plus any time they maybe need a retouch within the 4 to 6 month. I dont know if this is a good deal or not. help
I love hair extensions. Dany has been doing my hair for like 2 years. She is certified, patient and extremely creative when it comes to hair extensions. Dany is certified to do Hair extensions.
you can find her at http://www.danygenie.com
I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I had a short haircut.I was quoted $1500.00 but they needed to add more hair it wasn't enough and it still isn't but $2,100.00 was my limit. They were uncomfortable to sleep in but as they grew out I'm not uncomfortable anymore but they are tangled now because I didn't pull them apart everyday but they still look good thank god. I lost one so far since December but thats because my brush ripped it out. I like them but I don't for the money spent I feel they aren't worth it. I will keep them in for a year if I can but I'm definately not getting any trims because I want my hair underneath to grow as much as possible. Also I refuse to spend anymore money than I already did. Hope this helps.
I charge $200 to put in extensions and the cost of the hair is $200. I don't believe in paying ridiculous amounts for my hair, so why would I expect anyone else to...727.420.0576
I really regret extensions , I went to the salon and she started braiding the weave in , it was 1,200$ for labour , and 2,090$ for the extensions themself. i got my bottom layers done , and some under my bangs. they were very very painful , and my scalp started to bleed & blister.after about a month my hairbrush pulled a large amount of hair out, now a year later i have a bald spot on the bottom of my head.
I went to a shop in Frisco Tx.The stylist own her shop and the whole thing was a ripoff.First no charge for consultation then I get there she wants to charge $50.00 for consultation. Her least expensive hair for fusion was $750.00 after that I was dollared to death till I ended paying over $1000.00. The hair is cheap looks cheap and you can see the extensions. My advice get a gurantee in writing and do what I am doing tell everyone about the terrible quality of work.Anyone wanting to the name of this shop email me
The hair was $100 with tax,the stylist charge included a shampoo, style and cut for $250. Used this stylist before and she did a good job. Price was quoted before service, well worth it.
Full head my stylist did an excellent job. The hair is beautiful she is very patient took her time to apply the hair using the best method out there. The individual one hundred percent remy hair looks natural and shiny. The technique is a flat method it keeps the hair flat so it minimizes any tangle or matting to the natural hair. My goal is to grow my natural hair out. The 1300 hundred included a satin hair holder for any extra hair, reapplication keratin tips to hair I had saved from a previous experience, the new hair, application and hair cut. I also get my first four week followup for free and the six month removal for free. She can be reached at Hair Las Olas her name is Michaela
Wel in my personal advice I would lower the prices down, cos at the moment there way to much, yes they maybe hard work and stuff but it would be the same to get other hair cuts. So in my personal advice I would go to a shop to get extension hair would be a cheap one say around 40 and 50 $dollars. Thank you and I hope you hair dresses and owners lower the cost of hair extension, who knows maybe one day you could come up with heaps of poeple coming to get there haid extension done if you lower the price, who knows. Thankyou
I went to see Natonia in Clinton,Md. and I got the best weave ever. She has her hair imported from India and it doesn't tangle or matt. The sewn in weave lasted 2 months, however she suggested not to leave it in that long. She's the best.
I had mine done by a couple pro's...one who does the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders extensions. My fiancee watched the process and am I ever lucky......he is just one of those gifted individuals who can do it himself. I will also say if you are good with things like coloring your own hair, etc....that it is rediculously easy. I do my sides and my fiancee does the back. It takes about 5 hrs total. Strand by Strand is the BOMB and these are micro link. They do not fall out and they don't really damage the hair. You just have to be careful about tangling and brushing because they are attached to your hair. I now have beautiful silky shiny hair every 3-4 months! Highly Recommend. Check out Ciao Bella Hair extensions...you can google it. He is located in Dallas and he can do them for you for a cost....or sell you the hair and fedex it to you. This is my.....5th set, I think. My own hair is course and thick and has a tendency to break off at a certain length rather than grow. Hair extensions have been a godsend for me.
I was referred to Indy Remy Boutique fy a friend. The consultation was very detailed and when my extensions were applied the compliments started pouring in. I have always kept my look together; but Indy Remy Boutique elevated the bar (even for my standards). I referred a friend for the full lace unit, and a friend for The individual lash extensions; they both had great results. indyremyboutique.com Thanks Andy and Kenya awesome work.
I have been wanting to do extensions in my hair for a while now. I want to experience having my hair hang to my waist. However, the cost is ridiculous and then there is a saying, you get what you pay for. so needless to say, i still dont have any. also... i do color my hair and love the beverly j. hills hair coloring. its wonderful especially for someone like me who likes to play and color their hair. I would like to find someone who can and/or knows how to purchase this product. you can only order his regular hairline of products such as shampoo online. how does one get his hair colorings? the stylist who had used it on me has now moved. anyone know of how to purchase the beverly j hills hair coloring and where to get extenstions done right and good for a fair amount???
I paid 800.00 for a full head of platinum seamless extensions. They are supose to last 3 months. After one month parts of it were comming off. When I took them off I noticed I had lost a huge amount of my own hair.
I absolutely love the company I get my hair from they are very affordable and the owner of the hair supply company and the stylist made my service feel like it was customized for me!OMG!My hair so far has been in for 3 months and it still looks great. I have an appointment this Friday to wash and style my hair(with the sew in still in my head). For the hair I paid $150 for 2 packs of 14" peruvian hair and for the stylist to sew it in it was $180. My total price was $340. Not bad at all for the quality of the hair and my sew in!!The salon is Styles By Day it's in Carrollton,TX and the company I bought my hair is ShoNuf Beauty. It's an online store so the hair will be mailed to you but I can't complain at all!!(For some reason it wouldn't let me select 2012 so I had to choose 2011 but my purchase was this year in April
I had a fantastic experience. I love my hair extensions. I have the Brazilian Knot Hair Extensions and they are gorgeous. I was referred to Salon 317 and the owner did my extensions. My hair is short and I was worried that I couldn't get them. But my hair looks F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!. The hair is of great quality (she ordered it). They've been in for a little over two months now and going strong. I'm still getting compliments on my hair and would recommend Dee to anyone that is interested in hair extensions. She is absolutely a miracle worker. Check her out for your self....
I got my hair done the first time by Lilly in 2006 and I've Never gone anywhere else! Her prices are so reasonable and she makes house calls. My hair always looks so natural wet or dry. I travel A Lot so I can't have my hair not blending or working under different circumstances. She charges $20 for consultations and when its time for a touch up $50. She also does classes for stylists! It took some time to find her and I'm happy I did! You can contact her by email L.Hill8828@gmail.com
