Tummy Tuck Cost

How Much Does a Tummy Tuck Cost?

 average costRange: $3,000-$8,500
post E-mail post Post   Comments (12)
  Typical costs:
  • A tummy tuck, also called abdominoplasty, varies widely in cost from $3,000 to $8,500. This includes an anesthesiologist fee of $500 to $700, a facility fee of $700 to $1,000 and a surgeon's fee, which averages $5,232 according to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery,. The cost varies according to how much skin and fat has to be removed and whether the procedure is performed in a doctor's surgical suite or in a hospital. Sometimes, a tummy tuck requires an overnight hospital stay , which can make the procedure considerably more expensive.
  • Patients in the northeastern United States can expect to pay higher surgeon's fees, averaging $4,995, while patients in the south central states pay much less, averaging $3,681.

What should be included:
  • In a tummy tuck operation, which usually takes two to five hours, the surgeon makes a vertical and a horizontal incision to create a skin flap, which is lifted to reveal the "girdle" of muscles that holds in the internal organs. The doctor then pulls these muscles tighter, stitching them in place before removing extra skin, repositioning the navel and closing the incision. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons[1] provides diagrams and an overview of the procedure. A tummy tuck can remove fat, as well as stretch marks on the lower abdomen.
Additional costs:
  • Expect to pay for pain medication your doctor will prescribe.
  • Some patients require additional surgery, either to correct complications or because of dissatisfaction with the results. Also, women who become pregnant and give birth after having a tummy tuck may choose to repeat the procedure.
  • Patients who are within 10 percent of their ideal weight and whose fat deposits are confined to the area below the navel might be candidates for a less complicated - and less expensive - procedure, a partial abdominoplasty, also known as a "mini tummy tuck." This procedure can usually be done in an outpatient basis.
  • Tip: Ask your surgeon if you can get free or discounted services by agreeing to provide a testimonial or by allowing your before and after photos to be used on websites or in advertisements.
  • Having two plastic surgery procedures at the same time can save money on anesthesia fees and facility costs. However, if you have enough fat in your abdomen that you also require liposuction in this area, you should have the procedures done separately, three months apart, to avoid healing complications.
Shopping for a tummy tuck:
  • Tip: Look for a board-certified plastic surgeon with plenty of experience performing breast reductions. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons[2] provides a free referral service.
  • Tip: Talk to your surgeon to make sure you're a good candidate for a tummy tuck operation. The ideal tummy tuck patient is a man or woman of normal weight, with a slightly protruding or sagging stomach that has not responded to diet and exercise. Also discuss possible complications, which include infection, skin necrosis, and fluid or blood collecting under the skin, which require a trip to the doctor for removal.

Tummy tuck

I am a 23 yr old woman with 4 children, ages ranging from 5 yrs old to 4 mths old and a set of 3 yr old twin boys. I was only a size 3 and all of my children were a good size for my little body ( my first child was 8lbs 3.8 oz) my second pregnancy I had twins ( one weighing 6lbs 13 oz and the other 7 lbs 3 oz) and my last pregnancy before getting my tubes tied weighed almost 7 lbs. Since I had kids I have very very low self esteem I don't feel like a woman it this really upsets me to the point I co tangly wear girdles and try to hide behind layers of clothes even in the summer time. I feel that my body is taking a toll on my relationship because I am uneasy about taking my clothes off in front of him and I know it's not fear to hide from him but now I feel like this is building a wall between us. I don't like to do normal activities that I previously loved before my body went through a drastic change. Its embarrassing when you look thin with this disgusting hanging stomach.

Hello, my name is Wendy and I am in desperate need of a tummy tuck. I had two c-sections many years ago and became disabled a few years ago due to a back injury. I don't have saggy skin rather a tummy that looks like I am expecting. I can guarantee you that you too will be shocked. The rest of my body does not match the size of my stomach. I have been asked on numerous occasions are you expecting and finally I got to the point I just say no its just fat. Embarrassed by this, I would be forever grateful to receive one and am willing to do testimonials, pictures or videos. I will keep my fingers crossed that someone out there has a heart and will make my dream come true to not have as much back pain. Thank you for your time.

I am 26 years old and a mother of two young children. I had a gastric bypass at the age of 17 as a life saving procedure. I have been living with the terrible bags of skin hanging off my stomach, arms, and legs from the massive weight loss. It makes my back hurt and causes so much mental pain. I would be willing to do a testimonial, pictures, anything to help me move on with my life and feel normal. If anyone out there can help I would be forever grateful.

Tummy Tuck Prices
Amount: $2,600.00

Clinic or Hospital: MakeoverTravel
Latin America is a very good place for affordable plastic surgery. Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia and Argentina are very good place.
A friend of mine have performed her tummy tuck in Bolivia and the results are really impressive! I am going to Bolivia on August (the next month) also for a tummy tuck. The price of my entire package including hotel, procedure, surgeon fees, anesthesia and anesthesist fees, medical team fees, clinic fees, blood test, bilingual assistant, of 2600US$. It's very cheap. I think these prices are the normal prices there because my friend has paid the same price. Also I was looking for medical tourism companies in Bolivia and the two most famous I found was MakeoverTravel and SensualBodyDream and they have nearly the same prices. Betwen 2500US$ and 2700US$ for tummy tuck surgery.
