Flexible Partial Denture: $700-$1,500 Average, Just the Appliance
Total Costs: $1,000-$8,000+ w/Extractions, Other Dental Services
Traditional rigid partial dentures use a metal framework to hold artificial teeth in place, typically with visible metal clasps; flexible partial dentures have a soft but durable nylon base that conforms to the shape of the gums, even as they shift over time. These dentures flex into position, gripping around existing teeth and gums to stay in place; however, flexible dentures do need existing teeth to work properly, so they are typically not available as full dentures, only partials.
Typical costs:
The average cost for just a removable flexible partial without extractions or other work is about $700-$1,500. For example, the Aspen Dental chain [1] (with 380 locations in 25 states) charges $1,299 for a flexible partial denture, including follow-up appointments.
If the teeth the partial will replace have not already been removed, tooth extraction typically costs $75 -$450 per tooth for a simple extraction and $150-$650 or more per tooth for a surgical extraction. For example, extracting six teeth could cost $450-$4,000. For a flexible partial with multiple extractions and other dental work, average total costs can be $1,000-$6,000, and can be $7,000-$8,000 or more, depending on what is needed.
Most dental insurance covers some or all of the cost of partial dentures (depending on the terms of the policy), up to the policy's annual limit (typically $1,000-$2,000)
What should be included:
The dentist will take impressions of the patient's teeth, which are used to create an accurate model of the mouth, followed by a wax replica of the final denture. The dentist may have the patient try on the wax model, then send it back to the lab with notes of any changes needed. The lab then creates the final partial, and the dentist adjusts the fit in the patient's mouth. (These routine appointments are typically included in the cost of the flexible partial denture.) Sunrise Family Dentistry in Roseville, CA provides a video overview[2] of the process.
Flexible dentures are typically a little bulkier than metal-based partial dentures, and may take a bit longer to get used to wearing. However, they are generally considered to be more comfortable and appealing.
Additional costs:
If a flexible partial denture is lost or damaged (they are difficult to repair), a replacement is typically only slightly less expensive than the original partial.
Flexible dentures generally need to be cleaned with brand-specific products, which can cost $30-$60 a year. For example, Valplast[3] charges $25 for an eight-month supply of disinfecting tablets and $25 for about a year's supply of concentrated cleaner.
Shopping for flexible dentures:
Dentures are available from a dentist or a prosthodontist (with specialized training in dentures), and prosthodontists typically charge more than dentists.
The major manufacturers of flexible partial dentures are Flexite and Valplast; search for local dentists/prosthodontists who offer Flexite[4] or Valplast[5] flexible partial dentures.
If the patient has dental insurance, the insurance company will provide a list of approved dentists/prosthodontists. Or search for local members of the American College of Prosthodontists[6] , the American Dental Association[7] or the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry[8] .

Size, Position of Partial: $1200 upper $1200 lower
Dentist: Western dental hayward
After paying $1200 upper $1200 lower dentures and $355 to realign the top & $355 to realign bottom while waiting for my permanent implants! Why couldn't the implants be place when all my teeth were extracted? The dentures are a waste if money & don't fit right or feel good. I think it was the dentist to gouge me financially since I'm a cash pay patient.
Size, Position of Partial: Lower all teeth except 6 teeth
Dentist: Dr Rodem Roten
The cost was for dentures only All extractions and interm dentures were a separate bill. Sedation costs $500 for 2 pills my regular doc will give me a script and it costs me $12. Ripoff?? My dog bit mine in 3 clean pieces and Dr. said it cant be fixed and needed another $3600 set!! No way! It took me 10 min a soldering iron and sandpaper and they were as good as new. There are also company's that will repair them pretty cheap. So do your research before you spend a lot on dental reconstruction.
