Amount: $580.00 Posted by: David Dickinson From: Sydney, OtherPosted On: June 29th, 2009 01:06AMWhich Tooth: Second from back, bottom My tooth had broken in half, due to my molers coming through. I went to see my dentist and he just started to fix it. Last time I paid $340.00. The lady at reception thought I had medical insurance and charged me $580.00. I explained that was not the case, she checked my file again and prceeded to charge me the medical insurence cost not the non insured cost. I questioned her, she replied that was the cost. I got riped off, cause some one was lazy , and didn't read my imformation properly.

They Put in a temporary filling but my mom never took me back for it to be capped. 15 years later (07) Filling fell out. In 09 tooth cracked vertically and I also notice within the toothe the dentist did not clean out all the decay. In addition, my third molar has a big hole in it and BOTH were infected but the second molar was causing so much pain!! the extraction was only 239 but with the bone grafting and x-rays all togethor 517 (out my pocket). ( no insurance!). He wanted me to remove the third molar first but it wasnt causing any pain, plus I told him I dont have 3,870 to pull out my A** for wanting to remove my 3rd molar and a bone graft, make a bridge, do cosmetic surgery, and blah blah blah. the one that was hurting me is the one I wanted OUT. As for my third molar, Ill just go to the school of dentistry for that one...or Mexico. 75% cheaper.

Thank god for health and dental.

The visit including xrays was 10. Also I'm having a root canal and crown done on a front tooth the reception said but services should total 400 to 500 but with insurance it'll be cheaper. My big problem is my upper molar the root is pressing unto my sinus cavity, its going to cost 40 bucks just to see the oral surgeon, but this will be a medical bill not dental and I don't have a quote just yet.
Extraction
Amount: $281.00 Posted by: Charlie From: Brea,Ca, CAPosted On: March 5th, 2009 02:03AMWhich Tooth: #31 Had very badly infected tooth.Went to new Dental group that my wife chose when she signed up with new HMO. Co-pay for surgical extraction was supposed to be $5 with insurance. New dentist insisted/demanded that I would have to have bone graft after extraction even though it was in the far back next to where wisdom was removed 30 yrs. ago. That would cost an extra $550 out of my pocket or he wouldn't pull it. Told him to stick his graft. What a scam. Since I was in no mood for a road trip to Ensenada,I drove 1/2 mile down the street and paid dentist $281 to pull it.Wouldv'e been $5 but I couldn't wait a month for HMO to change "CARE PROVIDER". HAH
extraction
Amount: $203.00 Posted by: burlahowell From: chapel hill, NCPosted On: February 6th, 2009 01:02PMWhich Tooth: #13 15 yr old crown broke off with prep inside at gum level with post sticking out. Tooth extraction
Amount: $1,045.00 Posted by: DCBCHAS From: Charleston, SCPosted On: January 5th, 2009 12:01PMWhich Tooth: #18 Tooth had vertically cracked after having root canal and crown. Dentist in Charleston, SC charged $ 1045 for surgical extraction and tissue regeneration. Insurance recognized that $ 225 is fair price for extraction and did NOT recognize the regeneration cost. Hence -they paid $160 feel ripped off by dentist... never a position to negotiate when your face is numbed up and you have a bleeding socket in your gums.
go to Mexico
Amount: $35.00 Posted by: clay From: monterey, CAPosted On: December 18th, 2008 07:12AMWhich Tooth: any/all For 4 years now I have been going to Algodones, MX to the same dentist. It is 6 miles from Yuma, AZ. You park your car on US soil and walk 300 yards to the dentist. Extractions: $35 each. Root canal: $250. Bridge (1 tooth or 3 unit) $600. Dentures: top and bottom $400. (Requires 2 trips). Fillings: $60. Crowns: $200. Veneers $275 each. This gives you an idea of the costs involved. This tiny border town has 300 dentists and they are as good as or better than the average US dentist. I have received excellent dental care from my dentist. US dentists make $30-$40K a day. That is outrageous. There is no red tape in Algodones..no "consultation fees) and all that nonsense. It is modern, up to date, etc. You can have most work done in 2 days (root canal and crown, etc). Do a search for "dentists in Algodones, MX" and see for yourself. My periodontist there graduated from UCLA.
SON HAS NO INSURANCE/IMPACTED WISDOMS
Amount: $700.00 Posted by: User in Calif From: OC, CAPosted On: December 12th, 2008 09:12AMWhich Tooth: WISDOM TEETH My son has an impacted wisdom tooth that causes him much pain and suffering. The other wisdoms haven't created this much problem but he doesn't have medical insurance. His job doesn't offer it and at current the amount it would cost him to get the extraction would be around $700 as it is impacted and there is bone involved. He talks on the phone to customers all day and it interferes with his speaking not to mention makes him sick. I feel horrible about it because I'm not working and have no savings to be able to stretch my budget to help him. If he has the procedure done he has to take a few days off of work and that will cut into his pay as well. I'm encouraging him to save as much money as he can but his pay is not that much and it will be months before he can have anything done. I get really peeved about this. There are people in the USA who get low cost/no cost medical and meanwhile those working to barely get by, get nothing. Does anyone know of a low cost reputable dentist in southern calif? I appreciate what the user from the UK said of having NHS in place that helps people there. It isn't a perfect system but when you have to fully pay out of pocket it is nice to have something in place that helps with the costs. I believe every LEGAL citizen has a right to free medical care IF they cannot pay. This doesn't mean everything should be mandatory and socialized but when it comes to peoples' health we already pay tons in taxes and get little in return to show for it. M.O.

10 teeth pulled
Amount: $1,350.00 Posted by: Heriberto R. They took me in, gave me an X-Ray, identified the problem (wisdom tooth growing at an angle and pushing the teeth in front) Shot me up full of anaesthetic and pulled it. From phonecall to extraction about 5 hours. Because it was an emergency at the hospital, and not an emergency appointment at my registered dentist (I had none) I had to pay for the extraction. The total cost was 3.04 (around US$5) Browsing a couple of posts here, I think most British people don't realise how lucky we are to have the NHS (National Health Service) when I see how much a simple procedure like this can cost in the US From: Saint Louis, MOPosted On: September 13th, 2008 01:09AMWhich Tooth: remaining 10 lower So I just got dentures I'm 23 and well I'm still in pain.I forgot what the total cost without insurance was, but I ended paying 1350; that's including the dentures.
