Tooth Extraction Cost - Buyer Experiences and Price Information

Tooth number 13 pulled and a post put in for an implant. Cost of the consultation / x-ray / extraction was $205. My insurance paid 70% of it, since it was considered required work. The cost of the post for the implant was ~$900, insurance covering 50% since the adjacent teeth are in good shape, and the surgeon recommended an implant over a bridge in my case.

So Originally I said it would be about $285 and I expected to pay out of pocket about 185. I paid $45 for the consultation, $20 for the x-ray for 1 tooth, and $63 for the tooth to be gone. The grand total was only $128!! Pain meds are great too! Add $20 for Vicoden, Tylenol 3, 600mg Ibuprofen, and Antibiotics all to last for about a month!

At first it was $195.00, but because the surgeon had to use stitches, a very friendly $50.00 was added. I don't have insurance, so I paid the total cost out of my pocket. I may go to Mexico for a better deal for all the rest...$5,500.00
For the record: I was expecting more pain that what I got.

I've been to the UCLA school of dentristry before as a finals exam patient where I had teeth filled and 1 extraction at no cost to me. I'm going in at the end of the month to have a tooth pulled. They will give you a discount if you pay with cash. You know, ... that stuff people used to give to pay for things. It's normally up to $285, but I should expect a bill up to $185 max (w/o insurance).

Had a tooth extracted today..So far it has cost me $28.90....But we will see after insurance pays. It was done 5 hours ago & it's still bleeding badly.....UGH....I have to get a root canal on another tooth & alot of cavities to fill. Just got insurance but I cant have much filed they only allow $1,500 a year....It Stinks..So I decided to wait until now to get it started...Hopefully by January I will have a pretty smile again. Dental Insurance Stinks..No matter what :)

I had a cyst embedded in my gums and the oral surgeon wanted over $10K to extract all my teeth and immediate dentures. I went to Baylor Dental College and the entire procedure and my dentures (8 weeks later) for a total of $2K.

I had a crack at one of the roots of tooth #14. Had a laser gum procedure and bonding of tooth in New York City @ a cost of $525, and failed. Dentist was suggesting a root canal and hemisection, which was expensive and compromised the tooth. Instead, my NJ dentist suggested extracting #14 and getting a permanent 3 tooth bridge to attach to teeth on either side, both of which had already had root canals and post and cores. Cost in NY=$525 for extraction/ Bridge $4800=$5325. Cost in NJ=$250 for extraction/Bridge=$3000=$3250. Cost difference from NY to NJ=$2075!!!!!!

We live in Marin County CA, so nothing is cheap. My kid had four teeth pulled - three easy, one slightly impacted. The dentist was well recommended but acted like a car salesman when it came to discussing sedation. In encouraging us to get sedated, he said "in three years he has not had one patient that has not been sedated" and "by the third noocaine shot, most people wish they had gone for the sedation." We did not buy this unethical sell job and my kid had the teeth removed without being sedated. It took 20 minutes and it was not painful! We saved over $500. If your dentist does not mention the option of not being sedated, I would watch out!

Due to an eating disorder when I was a teen, I lost most of the enamal on my teeth. I have had several teeth pulled over the years. I have three broken teeth right now. I am in severe pain all the time. had one pulled about 3 weeks ago. However, the other 2 are now abscessed and because I have no dental insurance I can't do anything about this severe pain. Removing these 2 teeth would require a new partial which the dentist said would cost over $2500.00. I evidently make to much money to qualify (not even close)for Medicade but it really doesn't matter because America doesn't cover dental and it really should. If infections get into blood streams it is a huge health risk.

had a loose tooth and was very iritating and not really painful but had to get it out. I didnt think it would cost that much but had insurance and afterwards they only paid 150.00 I had to pay 145.00 out of pocket for 1 tooth seems a bit much.

The tooth had cracked vertically under the crown. My dentist said it might break during extraction, so he referred me to an oral surgeon. It was hard to remove this tooth, as it did break and the surgeon had to drill several times to dislodge it from the gum. He really had to work at it hard. It took about 25 minutes, more time than a previous extraction. The office demanded 50% up front, so I paid $208 today and they will bill the insurance. So the entire cost was $416.

Due to poor dentsl heslth and acid reflux my whole life--i am 49 now..all my upper teeth are now crowned...at a cost of alot of money.as I have no denal insurance.....now for the botton teeth I refuse to go throught the monies to root canal and crown them all. only to have problems later. As in failed root canals and then extractions...I will have the bottoms ripped out a few at a time....will need 6 dental implants at the cost of $12,760 quoted on 6/29/10 and 3 dental crowns one to go across the 6 front teeth and one on each side for another 3 teeth in back at a cost of another $12,000...You say that ios alot of money..which it is...but as for the tooth pain every day of my life...it is a bargain compared to the approx.$30,000 spent on my upper jaw

I was in a tremendous amount of pain when I cracked my wisdom tooth and it got infected. Also, my molar tooth in front of the infected wisdom tooth was in pretty bad shape and had been for months. Though, the molar wasn't infected, the dentist said it would be best to extract both. Cost was supposed to be $200.00 per tooth.$400.00 total. Both teeth came out in under 10 minutes and with no complications. The dentist ended up charging me only $231.00 for both teeth. This was a huge relief since I have no insurance and a payment plan was not an option.

I had an old root cannal that got a bad cavity, since the decay had gone to far, the dentist told me that it couldn't be saved, I needed to have it pulled out. The specialist is going to do it for $350.00 and I have three months to pay for it.

I had 11 teeth on the top and 3 on the bottom pulled. I recieved a immediate denture and will go back in a year for a permanet one. I went to affordable dentures in Catersville ga...She is the best dentist i have ever seen!

I hadn't had my teeth looked at in 5 years due to not having insurance. My employer took advantage of a low income state plan back in Feb and I had a major toothache in May. Turned out three of my teeth had decayed to the pulp and couldn't be saved--they even had to give me three shots to get the mouth numb enough to get the #20 out.
While it has a total cap of 1,200 the state assisted insurance payed for 60% of my tooth extraction and I had no problem with dry sockets afterword. Looking around this cost is pretty much average for this area of New Mexico and on par with Dental Plans.

Due to being on antibiotics constantly all my life among other medications I am having to get my teeth pulled and get dentures.

I am disabled and Medicare nor Medicaid will help with this cost. I am someone who worked 16 to 20 hours a day before I was injured (and loved it) and now it saddens me to have to go to friends and family to ask for money to help for medical treatment but, since it is making my health worse because of the infection it is something that has to be done. America really needs to consider dental and vision and medical coverage as something every citizen has a right to no matter what their financial standing.

Had two bottom jaw teeth removed at total $ 375.00, including xray and initial inspection.
Cost of each tooth extracted $ 150.00 each.
I found this very reasonable however if you need a lot of work done can add up to a lot.

DUE TO MAL-NUTRITION CAUSED BY CHRON'S DISEASE, MY SON HAD TO HAVE ALL 32 TEETH REMOVED. HE IS TOTALLY DISABLED AND ON MEDICARE BUT GUESS WHAT? YES, MEDICARE WILL NOT HELP WITH THE COST. OUT OF POCKET AND NO MERCY!!

i paid $255.00 for my tooth to come out then i later found that you can go to the close school that does dentestry and pay 75% less. Something to look forward to.

Cost to remove infected bottom left molar: $223 out-of-pocket, no insurance. Includes the actual extraction, injections of lidocaine, and one x-ray. I was told I had extra curvy roots so it was at the high end of the extraction quote ($130-200). I was quoted about $500 to get an implant to fill the gap, which I will do some other time.

Cost to surgically remove 2 top molars on left side and 1 bottom molar on right side; $185 each surgical removal teeth, and $90 for bottom molar simple extraction. Plus, $285 for iv sedation. Plus office visit and x-rays, total $850.

My husband went in for a simple tooth extraction - no surgery, no sedation. Walked out after paying a $450 tab. Definitely ripped off. No insurance. Didn't include the antibiotics. Just a dentist taking advantage of being able to fit in a person in terrible pain.

I spent a total of $720.00 in Greenville, MS to have 4 wisdom teeth pulled. They were fully erupted, so I did not have to have the surgically cut. There was no stitches involved. They were simply pulled. I was numbed quite a bit and I had X-Rays. The total price of $720.00 included all 4 teeth, x-rays, etc.

Well 245.75 is the price I was quoted to have the 3 wisdom teeth removed and general anesthesia. I do have dental insurance that covered a hefty portion of the bill because I had a consultation at another oral surgeon and was gonna be charged 1600.00 for the same procedure.
