The cost of hair extensions varies based on: the quality, type and length of hair extension chosen, the method of application and the length and density of the natural hair.
Typical costs:
A partial head of hair extensions typically costs between $150 and $300, plus the cost of the hair. Total cost ranges from $400 to $800.
A full head of hair extensions (for fullness only) typically costs between $300 and $600, plus the cost of the hair. Total cost ranges from $1,300 to $1,600.
A full head of hair extensions for fullness and added length typically costs $600 to $1500 and up, plus the cost of the hair. Total cost ranges from $1,600 to $4,000.
High-quality human hair that is cut -- not brushed -- off usually costs from $250 to $500 for a partial head and $1,000 to $2,500 for a full head, depending on length and origin. Synthetic hair and low-quality human hair, which are not recommended, cost much less.
The stylist will schedule an initial consultation to assess your hair and discuss to desired results and cost.
Bonding methods include braiding, weaving, sewing and fusion, in which the hair comes coated at the tips with a substance that, when heated, bonds with your own hair.
If necessary, the hair extensions will be color matched to your own hair.
At the appointment, the stylist will trim your hair and then use the chosen method to attach the hair extensions. Depending on the method and how many extensions are being applied, this can take anywhere from two to six hours. After application, the stylist will trim the hair for a blended look.
Additional costs:
Some bonding techniques require regular application of a product to keep the bond in good shape, for about $20 per month.
As hair grows, extensions need to be trimmed. This costs about the same as a traditional haircut.
Color touch-ups are sometimes necessary on extensions; this can cost $50 or more
As hair grows, hair extensions will need to be taken out and reapplied; hair extensions usually last an average of four to six months. This re-application will cost as much as the first for labor, but high-quality human hair usually can be reused.
Removal, which can take an hour or two, usually costs the stylist's hourly rate, unless new extensions are being applied.
Discounts:
Some salons will charge an hourly rate to apply extensions you buy yourself; however, it usually is a better idea to purchase hair through a licensed hairdresser.
Using a "weft" -- a grouping of hairs that have been sewn together in a seam -- is generally quite a bit cheaper than strand-by-strand hair extensions, but tends not to look as natural or allow as much versatility.
Clip-in hair extensions can be used for an inexpensive, temporary style; a stylist can show you how to put them in and take them out.
Some salons offer discounts for senior citizens or cancer survivors.
Shopping for hair extensions:
Tip: First, make sure you are a good candidate for hair extensions. People who are losing a lot of hair, who have allergies to certain chemicals or who are not willing to make regular trips to the salon are not. Rolfs-Salon.com[1] provides a self-quiz on hair extension suitability.
Find a salon by asking for a list of certified stylists from a reputable company that supplies quality human hair extensions. Popular companies include Hairlocs[2] , Great Lengths and Hairdreams[3] .
Tip: After you have found a salon, schedule a consultation to get an accurate price estimate. Ask to see before-and-after photographs of previous hair extension clients; a reputable stylist should always have a portfolio and also should be certified by the company that provides the hair extension system they use.
Before getting hair extensions done, it is important to ask for a written price quote and guarantee. This is standard practice at reputable salons.

I know a lady who does hair extension that only charges 350 with hair included she does a great job and it last up to 3 months here's her number her name is michy 9843641267
I've never had hair extensions before, I have hair that is about 16 inches long to the ends, there r shorter pieces, there's a lot but so fine and thin. So I was afraid but figured 1 set with tape method (I heard that is the gentlest method for thin fine hair). She pit 3 pieces on the right side & 2 on the left. 2 questions: Is that the right amount of hair? 2- How do I style my hair as I did before, meaning blow drying, brushing as they are there so I can brush through where they r taped in, that would pull then out. She went to her country and will back Aug. 10th. So how do I style it, I USED TO STYLE IT WITH MOUSE AND A HAIR LIFTER THEN LIFT WITH THE BLOWER POINTING AT THE ROOTS THEN GIVE IT A COLD SHOT. CURL THE ENDS WITH A CURLING IRON, LET IT COOL OFF, TURN OVER MY HEAT AND BRUSH THROUGH. WHAT DO U DO TO GET THAT EFFECT WHEN YOU OBVIOUSLY CANT BRUSH WHERE THE EXTENSIONS R BONDED, CANT GO THROUGH THAT. PLEASE ADVISE???????
My stylist Deanne is amazing.$250 & you get a deep condition, trim, install and cut and style. If you want a net there's no extra charge.call her @ 301.825.6847.Located on Hanover,Md.
As a stylist you must know that the reason extensions are so expensive is because of the hair, the better quality of the hair of the more expensive it is. Of course we don't work for free therefore we do charge an hourly fee due to our experience and education. I do hope that you can find someone to do your extensions for you at a reasonable price.
Don't ever go to this place and let Cameda Dickerson touch your hair. She will destroy your hair and you get crap that she lied about. Beware of this scammer
Stylist over charged for all service and I feel I did not get the amount of hair I paid for put in. Was never given the maintenance from the stylist that put them in , then she left me with no stylist to maintenance while she went on maternity leave for 3 to more months??? What the heck""
My stylist put in my extensions for $90. She glues them in. She wants me to buy the glue, semi hair color rinse and colors after put on my head, extensions, and I usually bring my own shampoo and conditioner. She may also have to cut them because I can't find any for 12" and usually 15". They only last around 6 weeks.Am I getting a good deal?
I was referred to a great young lady with lots of experience. I called and scheduled a consultation is was great however I felt the price was expensive. After the consult I was sold and had to have it done. Natonia was the best!! The hair was great!! I highly recommend her. This is her number 301/613/8548 and she's between Northern VA, MD, and Ca.
I love my extensions put in at the Beauty Bar Spa & Salon. The stylist that put them in educated me on the proper care for my hair as well as the extensions. The cost was well worth the experience. The price included my hair also. Call Brenda Starr @ 757-514-1080 if you want the best install in the Norfolk/ Virgina Beach area.
I am looking for a reputable salon with flexable hours and good prices to get extensions. I live in the Collegeville, PA area. Does anyone have any recommendations. I have a friend in Exton PA area who told me she got them for about $150.00 full head, I find that price hard to believe and she also told me she has no follow up appointments to keep them up.
$1000 for service. $500 for the hair. Thus company is THE BEST bc they're the only company that has keratin tipped bonds and also keratin tape for the tape extensions ( which are reusable). I have been going to Ashley DeVaughn out of Raleigh NC. I TRUSTED HER BC SHE WEARS THEM HERSELF and her natural hair has grown longer and thicker. I've seen it. She's at a Mitchell's Hairstyling Salon and been doing them for 10 years. I would suggest her. Call her salon # 919-846-9214
I tried brazillian knot for the first time and it hurt soooo bad!!!! Never Again!!! I had to cut them out right away. I kept them in for 2 days and then that was it, I could not take it. My scalp actually started itching and getting little bumps!!! Don't do it no matter what!!
I went to The Hair House in Land O' Lakes, FL. A stylist there named Lewis applied fusion extensions. They are wonderful. He was very educated and thorough. I will never go anywhere else again, except to him. I have had no issues whatsoever. After the initial consultation and deposit, he ordered the hair and took care of everything. If you need extensions and you live in this area or around it, I would strongly recommend going to him.
My stylist does extensions she charges $250.00 per pack of 25 strands i need at least 12 paks. includes labor but recently i have asked her is there is a less expensive hair and she put hair in me that now gets knotty and matted right after a blow out I can hardly brush out knots on a date I have to keep checking back of hair its matted she doesnt know answer claims its me i need to know maybe the new hair is made of fabric or dolls hair please let me know
I got my hair done the first time by Lilly in 2006 and I've Never gone anywhere else! Her prices are so reasonable and she makes house calls. My hair always looks so natural wet or dry. I travel A Lot so I can't have my hair not blending or working under different circumstances. She charges $20 for consultations and when its time for a touch up $50. She also does classes for stylists! It took some time to find her and I'm happy I did! You can contact her by email [email protected]
I had a fantastic experience. I love my hair extensions. I have the Brazilian Knot Hair Extensions and they are gorgeous. I was referred to Salon 317 and the owner did my extensions. My hair is short and I was worried that I couldn't get them. But my hair looks F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!. The hair is of great quality (she ordered it). They've been in for a little over two months now and going strong. I'm still getting compliments on my hair and would recommend Dee to anyone that is interested in hair extensions. She is absolutely a miracle worker. Check her out for your self....
I absolutely love the company I get my hair from they are very affordable and the owner of the hair supply company and the stylist made my service feel like it was customized for me!OMG!My hair so far has been in for 3 months and it still looks great. I have an appointment this Friday to wash and style my hair(with the sew in still in my head). For the hair I paid $150 for 2 packs of 14" peruvian hair and for the stylist to sew it in it was $180. My total price was $340. Not bad at all for the quality of the hair and my sew in!!The salon is Styles By Day it's in Carrollton,TX and the company I bought my hair is ShoNuf Beauty. It's an online store so the hair will be mailed to you but I can't complain at all!!(For some reason it wouldn't let me select 2012 so I had to choose 2011 but my purchase was this year in April
I paid 800.00 for a full head of platinum seamless extensions. They are supose to last 3 months. After one month parts of it were comming off. When I took them off I noticed I had lost a huge amount of my own hair.
I have been wanting to do extensions in my hair for a while now. I want to experience having my hair hang to my waist. However, the cost is ridiculous and then there is a saying, you get what you pay for. so needless to say, i still dont have any. also... i do color my hair and love the beverly j. hills hair coloring. its wonderful especially for someone like me who likes to play and color their hair. I would like to find someone who can and/or knows how to purchase this product. you can only order his regular hairline of products such as shampoo online. how does one get his hair colorings? the stylist who had used it on me has now moved. anyone know of how to purchase the beverly j hills hair coloring and where to get extenstions done right and good for a fair amount???
I was referred to Indy Remy Boutique fy a friend. The consultation was very detailed and when my extensions were applied the compliments started pouring in. I have always kept my look together; but Indy Remy Boutique elevated the bar (even for my standards). I referred a friend for the full lace unit, and a friend for The individual lash extensions; they both had great results. indyremyboutique.com Thanks Andy and Kenya awesome work.
I had mine done by a couple pro's...one who does the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders extensions. My fiancee watched the process and am I ever lucky......he is just one of those gifted individuals who can do it himself. I will also say if you are good with things like coloring your own hair, etc....that it is rediculously easy. I do my sides and my fiancee does the back. It takes about 5 hrs total. Strand by Strand is the BOMB and these are micro link. They do not fall out and they don't really damage the hair. You just have to be careful about tangling and brushing because they are attached to your hair. I now have beautiful silky shiny hair every 3-4 months! Highly Recommend. Check out Ciao Bella Hair extensions...you can google it. He is located in Dallas and he can do them for you for a cost....or sell you the hair and fedex it to you. This is my.....5th set, I think. My own hair is course and thick and has a tendency to break off at a certain length rather than grow. Hair extensions have been a godsend for me.
