Dental Implants Cost - Buyer Experiences and Price Information

After spending a lot in the past and the Periodontist thinkinkg a 100% fee increase is not asking much from my last inplant I shopped around. Dental Schools will do the same work for 1/3 the fee and in the advanced schools like Periodontal, they are already real DDS, going for advanced training. Its worth checking out.

Did not have coverage, just went to north Central Hospital in the bronx and they took it out for that amount.

Does anyone know of any really good dental plans where implants were needed an taken care of by the plan?

I recently had a consultation for dental implants and a fixed bridge. The total cost is $36,000 (not covered by my dental insurance). I currently have a fixed bridge that was installed in 1995 that was attached to five of my teeth. My teeth have deteriorated and the fixed bridge is barely hanging on to one of my original teeth. I can only eat soft foods and have constant pain. Can anyone provide contact information of dental insurance providers that cover dental implants????!!!!

The results are wonderfull, however the cost was breathing.

I was quoted $26,000.+ to have this work done in Calgary, Canada. Instead we spent the winter in Arizona and had the four implants, including abutments, temporary and permanent crowns for $7200. in Algodones, Mexico. I've had absolutely no problems in the two years since they were done. There are many excellent dentists in this small town just across the border from Yuma. So I just got 10 teeth pulled out of my lower mouth the rest fell out. I'm 23 and wearing dentures. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this problem. I don't want to spend the rest of my life with dentures. I need some work on my upper teeth as well.

I am currently having 10 implants completed at a dental facility in Florida. I would suggest the doctors you use be at least board certified to complete all of your procedures. I have only 9 of my natural teeth left in my mouth. This a long drawn out process. With the teeth extractions, healing times, several surgerys , it has taken about two years to complete. Of these 10 implants I will have about 20 crowns attached including bridges. I suggest IV sedation for all surgeries. The surgery for the top of my mouth look 5 hours to complete so I'm sure I would not want to remember all of the shots into the roof of my mouth, the drilling and screwing into my jaw bone for the placement of the implants, and the sinus lift that was required because of the lose of all of my front teeth. Tylenol was the only pain medication I needed after the sergeries. Be prepared to eat soft foods for many weeks if you have this much work done. Implants sure beat dentures. My doctors estimate 80 to 90 thousand plus dollars once the procedures have been completed. My insurance covers 100%.

Insurance is a joke. Paid 160 beans out of pocket when if you had no insurance you pay 170.00

I was told this week that I'll need one tooth implant. My dentist will be back from vacation on Tuesday so I don't know if he'll do the work or refer me to a specialist. I've never had a tooth pulled (I'm 67 yrs old) so I'm hoping it won't be painful.

I got the impalnt but the dentist did not explain for the abutment and the crown and I end up paying $4,000.00 for the implant which was not covered by the insurance. Dentist should explain what Implant and what Crown is.

I am a Prosthodontist in Bristol, VA. Implants in our area are $1500 for the implant. The crown that replaces the missing tooth after healing is connected to the implant with an abutment. This crown plus the abutment (connector) is around an additional $1350 per tooth. Every case is different and sometimes grafts are needed for implant support. Sometimes all the teeth in one arch can be replaced by a porcelain prosthesis supported with five implants for a cost of $18500. This prosthesis does not come out of the mouth. Other options could include "All-on-Four" treatment with a "Hybrid" prosthesis also non-removable for as low as $13,500/arch (an acrylic prosthesis supported by 4 implants). Often two implants can support three missing teeth depending on the surface area of the supporting implants. I would advise getting a second opion before investing a substainial amount of money toward implant treatment. There should never be "hidden" fees in dentistry. I would suggest you go to the American College of Prosthodontists web site and "Find-a-Prosthodontist" if you are considering implants as a treatment alternative. The final position of the tooth should dictate the position of the implant. You should start with the dentist that will restore the tooth so he/she can help guide the placement of the implant into an idea location for restoration. Always ask for a printed treatment plan. Implants are a great treatment alternative to missing teeth and ill-fitting dentures.

I was quoted by several Dentists who by the way do NOT have a payment plan available, I guess they think I have the money growing on a Tree in my backyard?? anyway, that is for everything, implants (3) and a bridge and pulling 2 teeth, no bobe grafting or sinus lif, thank God. Dental Insurace should PAY for implants, they are NOT cosmetic to me, it is either them ot false teeth....yuk!

Is there alot of pain afterwards from having a single dental implant?

I just had two implants done. Included was,
extraction of one root, surgery, and 2 crowns.
Also, they had to cut down an existing bridge, to get to the 2 teeth. Total cost was $4,125.00.
I got other quotes that were almost double that!
My mouth is swollen today, but basically I am a happy camper with whom I choose.

Shame on the dental insurance for considering dental implants to be cosmetic. What is wrong with them? People would like to chew without pain...they need to reconsider the position on dental implants. Personally, I'm sick and tired of paying so much for insurance to have it cover literally nothing!!!

I am still contimplating the procedure. $10,000 quoted for the 3 implants holding a 5 tooth bridge. I am currently on having Blue Cross/ Blue Shield insurance but looking for additional insurance that will cover implants. Can you tell me what insurance you had that did cover any on implants? I called before hand to see total cost I would incur. I was told implant was $3,800 and crown and post would be $2,500. I set my appointment today to have the crown and post put on and was told it would be a minimum of $5,000 and could be as high as $10,00

My dentist neglected to tell me the complete cost of my procedure. I had a removable bridge in the spot originally. They told me the cost for two implants was 3300. I figured ok alot of money but, a sacrifice because my smile from my profile was gleaming with the metal piece from the bridge. Then after a couple of months I return for restoration and that was an additional 1900 for post and crown. NO ONE told me that so be aware. When your dentists is quoted you prices that seem to good to be true trust me it is too good to be true. My insurance covers nothing of this procedure it is deemed cosmetic.

I also was never told that I needed to have a crown. I was told that it was $1500 per tooth and I needed 3 implants at $1500 each so I figured $4500-$6000 and my insurance paids half I would be out $3000. Then I find out I need a bone graft and my insurance only paids for 1 Implant every 5 years after I had the teeth extracted. Then I find out I will need crowns that are extra and the implant surgeon dosen't do that I have to see my regular dentist. I have been going through this for 2 years and I am still not finished and will be out around $7500

Did great job fot the 3 teeth than needed bottom 2 decay need new crowns and 1 root canal plus others I dont have $$$$ for! Am 60 Yr old and spent about 100 grand my life and cannot now eat a steak or peanut!
I can understand these dentists deserve to be multi-millionaires its just I cannot aford to make em billionaires like they want.Need whole new health care system in the United States.

The total cost for implants for four teeth (born without four permanent teeth) was $12,000 for the surgery and implants, and $12,000 for the crowns. We were covered for 3/4 through insurance, so had to pay $6,000.

I was quoted $6100 for the following: removal of four wisdom teeth (partial bony), one extraction of 2nd molar (lower left), crown of 2nd molar of lower right, implaint of lower left 2nd molar, including a bone graft, set up, x-rays, the complete exams, panoramic x-ray, includes core buildup, including pins and the implaint crown with metal.

At first, I thought it was very expensive, but on second thought I think I'm getting a great price. Move to Los Angeles and I'll tell you who's my dentist!!

my surgery would have costed only $2045 without insurance but I needed an extaction and bone grafting plus a temporary crown and two peranent ones. I had a free consultation and I'm only 17yrs old. For everything extra, but mandatory, and the same day implants and with a printed copy of the costs and surprisingly no surgeon fees it was only$ 5,520 with a 10% discount so the final cost was $5000. I am very satisfied! Next I'm moving onto body plastic surgery!

I just got an estimate including the implant, potential bone graft, extraction, etc, for $6000 to do two molars. This is a 2 hour procedure. $3000 per hour seems a bit excessive. An anesthesiologist doing organ transplant surgery makes about half that. I am going to call a couple of other people.

There should be no confusion that the implant does not include the crown. Your doctor should have explained the procedure before hand. If not, you should've asked him/her to explain before any agreement. Why wouldn't anyone ask for an explanation and details regarding any surgery, great or small? And one should always do their own research as well.

I just had my implant placed three days ago and will get my crown in a few months. Altogether with tooth extraction, bone growth treatment (I didn't have enough jaw bone for an implant right away), implant, and then crown, I'll be looking at over $4000 total not covered by insurance...

Got the implant and was told 1500 for the whole thing, never told me I would need a new post and crown! Thought they were implanting a whole tooth!! Now I have to pafy an additional 1450 for the post and crown.. Buyer beware!!
