Partly heredity and through having an accident knockin out my front bridge, after this occured evey thing went.I have spent over 6,000 through my life time.I have worked the same place for 27 year and I have dental insurance but when it comes to implants forget it. I was a lead singer in many a rock band and had great looking teeth thanks to my wife being a DenAL Hygenist but with her having a near fatal car crash in 81 that is no longer an option. Now I have an upper partial on top with 3 of my front teethand 1 on the bottom Idont smile ,I dont laugh, and I try not to talk so much. Ive allways been funny . happy and love people but thats all gone. But with what I hear and seen with upper and lower denters Id rather just wear the top 3 front teeth (partial)it makes me want to just sit down and cry.I haveas of now 97.000 in profit sharing but unlike a 401 k you caint touch it til you turn 60, get disabled or die.Looks like Ive got 3 years to wait and even then I guess ill have to get implants in Costa Rica

To Miserable in Greenwood
Amount: $0.00 not covered by insurancePosted by: Rotting away in PA From: Wilkes-Barre, PAPosted On: May 6th, 2011 03:05PMWhich Tooth: All In response to "Miserable in Greenwood's" post on March 28th. Everything you said and described, right down to not being able to look ppl in the eyes when you speak to them, I am. I too, am 31. Heredity, growing up poor, neglect and one very bad visit to a dentist lil over 10 years ago have taken its toll on my teeth. Though I'm only missing 1 tooth in the front, the rest of my teeth are falling apart at an alarming rate. It seems that everytime I eat something that requires effort in chewing, more and more pieces of my teeth chip or break exposing very unpleasant looking results. Being a nice looking man doesnt justify the feeling of anxiety when meeting new ppl or the complex that follows when speaking to others and wondering what they are really thinking in their heads. I totally feel your pain there. When I worked construction it didnt bother me much, nor did I care what the guys thought. Now I work for FedEx havin to be around more ppl than I'm used to. As far as relationships go, sometimes I cant help to think that the only reason my gf doesnt seem to care about my teeth is because she is used to being with me for 3 years. Having bad teeth affects your mental health in a sense cuz I often ponder what life would be like if my gf wasnt with me anymore and the mental stress I would endure when it came to the dating scene and making 1st impressions. As sad as it sounds, I rather be butt ugly w/ a great smile than attractive w/ a mouth full of nasty teeth. In addition, reading all these testimonies about how much it costs for implants only fuels my depression as I dont have that kinda money nor will I ever see it anytime soon. All in all, reading your post reminded me so much of myself. I wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy and I just want you to know that you are NOT alone and that I hope some day you get your second chance at life, because in all reality, this sort of thing we are going thru consumes your life and eat away at ya mentally, physically and socially.

Wanting Dental Implants
Amount: $0.00 not covered by insurancePosted by: "Michael" From: Little Rock, ARPosted On: March 26th, 2011 01:03AMWhich Tooth: 10 Upper, 3 Lower My family's cursed with bad teeth, on both sides of my family. Thankfully, I never really had any problems with mine up until a few years ago. I'm lucky that my teeth aren't physically bothering me, they don't hurt but I know that the only option left is to pull them and replace them. I'm only 30, and will not settle with dentures, period. I'm not going to waste $$ on getting dentures or partials, just to spend the rest of my life taking them out every night to clean them. Implants are better for you in the long run and are the next best thing to having real teeth. I also want to pay for my sister's dental work too, after I'm thru getting my college education and get a higher paying job.
implants
Amount: $0.00 not covered by insurancePosted by: JBD My sis made the mistake of going to a small town dentist in our hometown who pulled all of her top teeth and basically kept giving her the run-around for at least a year or more after pulling them, when it came to getting her dentures. They kept telling her that, "Oh, the paperwork must've gotten lost in the mail..." She's not the only person they've told that too either. That's after making us feel like having bad teeth was completely our fault (he was my dentist too growing up.) She's FINALLY getting them, but in the long run, I still plan on getting her implants too. It's the least I can do, since she's survived cancer and has been thru Hell and back. I won't let him go near my teeth. Why? So he can pull them and then give me the run-around too? He's done that to quite a few people in our hometown. I moved to the capital now and found a reputable dentist who specializes in dental implants. I know it's not going to be cheap, but in the end, it'll be worth it, to have it done the right way. Well, I just thought I'd share my story. I can't wait to get my smile back, along with my confidence, and I want to give that gift to my little sister too, it's the least I can do for her. She doesn't know my plans yet, but it'll be worth every penny to see her smile back too. :) From: canton, GAPosted On: March 10th, 2011 08:03PMWhich Tooth: all To RDS in Cumming Ga.

Amount: $0.00 not covered by insurancePosted by: RDS From: cumming, GAPosted On: February 19th, 2011 09:02PMWhich Tooth: all Help I am a chef and over the years I have not had insurance of any kind so I dont go to any doc. if i can help it. But now i need to do something about my teeth, last time i went in for a tooth that broke i was told that my mouth was hell, broken, craked and dead teeth, receding gums and everything else you can think of. So the dentist told me i would most likely be better off just having full implants put in. and that it could be done for under 10000.00 if done at one time, or done at a school. is this true? Is it a good thing to think about? And is there anyway it would cost 10000.00 or is that cost way off? Help please

Amount: $1,100.00 not covered by insurancePosted by: Safariboy RealChoice Dental Implant Center of Kentuckiana From: Amman, Jordan, OtherPosted On: January 15th, 2011 03:01AMWhich Tooth: lower next to wisdom Complete implant and crown by my dentist and a dental surgeon cost me $1,100. Using all German material. Medical and dental tourism is a growing busness in Jordan because of low cost. In 2009 there were more than 250,000 visitors coming to Jordan for medical/dental care. Round trip from USA to Jordan cost less than $2,000. Cardio exam including ultra sound scan recently done cost me $90 by a U.S. Board certified cardiologist. That is reasonable.
Implant Failure
Amount: $2,800.00 not covered by insurancePosted by: Coco From: Denver, COPosted On: January 14th, 2011 01:01PMWhich Tooth: 28 My #28 was infected off and on over ten years with occasional buccal gum drainage, but with little pain (it had had a root canal). I finally went for an implant after three earlier successful ones by the same practitioner. He did the extraction and a large amount of bone (cadaver) grafting because of what he termed a "large defect" in the underlying bone (possibly bone loss from years with an infected root). He waited five months before placing the implant, and he remarked that the grafted material felt somewhat soft, though the bone below felt solid. After three months I went in to have the implant "torqued" and it hurt a bit so I stopped them after the first force level was applied, and we waited another month. At that time the torque test was OK, so I went to my regular dentist to have the crown restoration made. When that came back from the lab and was being installed, the implant came out of my jaw. I went immediately to the implantologist who said he couldn't be certain why the implant failed to osseointegrate. He recommended that we wait 3 months for healing to occur and then place a new implant (not sure what a re-do will cost). In addition, the crown restoration was a major loss because it had been custom-built to fit atop the failed implant. However, the implant manufacturer (3I) compensated my dentist for the crown so luckily I avoided that expense. My dentist and the implantologist are losing a bit of confidence in the 3I posts and may sue more Nobel (or other mfr.) products in the future, though my three previous successful implants were all made by 3I. They say 1 out of 25 or so implants fail for various reasons but I didn't expect it in my case because I am healthy, don't smoke or drink, my gums are in reasonalby good condition, and I practice good oral hygiene. I suspect the bone loss from many years of an infected tooth might be the "root" cause of the problem. In any case, I am going forward with the re-do, probably in early March 2011.

My teeth were fine and I went two years without a visit and I needed 9 root canals. I am single mother on disability. I am trying to go back to work. I am educated and have a degree but no one will hire me because of my teeth. I have gotten so many different quotes from dentists. Anywhere from 10,000 to 150,000 to do all the work I need. I can't even get on a payment plan because my income is so low. The government will provide you healthcare if you are disabled but they do not consider your oral health a part of that. I am in a lose lose situation. I hope all of you find a way to get your teeth fixed. I will keep you in my prayers and I hope you keep me in yours.
